In January 2019, everyone was talking about the Fyre Festival documentaries on Hulu and Netflix. A major takeaway was how much the festival creators spent on their infamous promo video shoot. My partner and I realized it could have been made much cheaper with Shutterstock. Acting quickly, we recreated their video using only $2K worth of stock footage. And the Internet loved it. And it’s on permanent collection at the MoMa.
Our little video blew up on social media. People on Imgur thought it was a Super Bowl ad.
